Our commitment to the future

The LYCRA Company is currently developing its 2030 Sustainability Goals which will be published later in 2021.  Some of the progress we have made to date includes:

Energy Savings:

Since 2011, our LYCRA® fiber production sites have implemented more than 250 energy reduction programs. As of 2019, two of our sites had reduced their energy intensity by more than 20%, with more than half of our sites improving by more than 10%.

Water Conservation:

Each of our sites has individual water reduction goals. At our Tuas site in Singapore and our Monterrey site in Mexico, we reduced plant operation water usage by more than 20% since 2013.

Waste Reduction:

In 2019, less than 1% of LYCRA® fiber waste was sent to landfill with a goal to reduce this even further going forward.

Recycling fiber waste

See how LYCRA® EcoMade fiber has enabled The LYCRA Company to reduce waste by recycling spandex and putting it back into production. This innovation helps us and our customers achieve mutual sustainability goals.

Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) Self-Assessment

All six LYCRA® fiber manufacturing sites have completed the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) that assesses the environmental impact of each facility. This robust impact assessment establishes an environmental baseline so each site can work towards continuous improvement in key areas, including: environmental management systems, energy use, emissions, water usage, wastewater, and waste and chemical management.

The LYCRA Company’s largest manufacturing site located in Foshan, China, recently received Higg FEM certification, verifying the self-assessment that was completed by the Foshan site in early 2021.
